Galaxy S8 vs. Pixel camera comparison: Samsung takes on Google

The Google Pixel’s 12-megapixel camera yielded impressive results even without optical image stabilization. It’s regarded as one of the best smartphone cameras on the market, producing images on a par or better than the Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

But the Galaxy S8 camera may have something to say about that. Samsung has always offered some of the best smartphone cameras around, and last year’s Galaxy S7 wasn’t any different. That camera was so impressive, Samsung decided to keep the same 12-megapixel count and f/1.7 aperture, adding some image processing improvements to make it even better.

We’ve already tested out the Pixel and put it through its paces. We just got in the Galaxy S8 in to review, so we’re still testing it out. Even without approaching the S8 pictures with a critical eye, they look top-notch. But it’s too early to make a definitive statement about the S8’s camera until we do more testing.

Using the Galaxy S8 and Pixel, we snapped a few pictures of the same subject in the same conditions. It’s up to you to decide which one is better. How’s the sharpness? Is there any oversaturation? How do the cameras perform in low light? Take look at the gallery down below and let us know what you think.
