Google, Huawei face lawsuit for not fixing bootlooping and battery drain issue in Nexus 6P
The lawsuit alleges that both companies are playing the blame game and affecting the customers.
Some users of the Nexus 6P, the last device under the Nexus series by Google, have complained about facing bootlooping and battery drain issues. According to reports, users have been facing the issues since the launch of the smartphone. As expected, affected users are demanding Google and Huawei to roll out updates to resolve the issue. Now, a law firm has filed a lawsuit against both the companies in the US.
Chimicles & Tikellis, the law firm that filed the suit against Huawei and Google, in Texas, USA, clams that affected Nexus 6P devices get switched off even when the devices shows enough charge – a result of the battery drain problem. The bootlooping issue causes the phone to constantly shut and restart – making it ineffective till the problem is resolved. The lack of interest by both brands in resolving the issue has also been highlighted.
The press Release from the law-firm states, “On April 14, 2017, C&T and its co-counsel filed a class action complaint in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas against Huawei Technologies, Inc. and Google, Inc.” “C&T represents a client from California and the complaint seeks to represent a class of consumers who currently or previously owned a Nexus 6P smartphone and can be identified as having incurred out-of-pocket expenses related to the alleged defect,” it added. Earlier, Google and Huawei both were criticised for not acknowledging the issue in public. While Google washed its hands off the matter by informing users to get faulty devices exchanged through Huawei’s warranty service, Huawei service centres put the blame on Google software. According to reports, these issues started to surface both before and after the warranty of the units expired. Some have also complained that the warranty is not being honored whereas those were able to approach service center in time were made to wait several days or weeks to get a refurbished unit. However, these refurbished units also suffered the same problems.
