Honor 9 leaked render hints at dual-camera setup, Xiaomi Mi 6-like design

Here’s the first glimpse at what the upcoming Honor 9 could look like.

It’s no secret that Honor is working on the successor to the Honor 8, which is expected to launch sometime this year. Now, thanks to an alleged render, we have an idea about how the purported smartphone will look like.

Folks at Slashleaks have now come across the first rendered image of the Honor 9. Looking at it, what’s visible is the placement of fingerprint scanner that has been moved from the back to the front. The home button is likely to double up as a fingerprint sensor. Just like the Honor 8, its successor will also come with dual-rear camera setup along with laser auto-focus and dual-LED flash. There’s however no word on whether the setup will include a RGB + monochrome sensors, or a combination of wide-angle and telephoto lens. The volume and power button still rests on the right hand side. Apart from that, looks like the Honor 8 will come with full-metal body, and a reflective glass back.

If this image is legit, then it is worth noting that the Honor 9 smartphone bears a lot of similarities with Xiaomi’s recently launched Mi 6. However, one key difference is when you flip the phones. At the back,  the LED flash on the Honor 9 is placed on the right of the dual-camera, whereas on the Mi 6 the LED flash is placed on the left.

To recap, the Honor 8 was launched in India for Rs 29,999. Sporting a 5.2-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display, the smartphone was powered by a 2.3GHz octa-core Kirin 950 processor and Mali T880-MP4 GPU paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage. Honor has also included a microSD card slot with support for up to 256GB. On the camera front, the smartphone comes with a dual-rear camera setup with two 12-megapixel cameras along with dual-tone LED flash light. The primary rear camera has f/2.2 aperture and Laser AF. Up front, there was a 8-megapixel front-camera with f/2.4 aperture for selfies. ALSO READ: Honor 8 Review
