Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro launched in India to take on Xiaomi Redmi 4A: Price, specifications, features
Samsung’s ‘Made in India’ Galaxy J3 Pro is an entry-level smartphone, but can it take on the popular Xiaomi Redmi 4A?
Samsung has today launched an affordable smartphone in its Galaxy J series, called Galaxy J3 Pro. The smartphone is priced at Rs 8,490, and it will be exclusively available via Paytm Mall from April 6. Buyers will be able to choose from three colors — black, white and gold.
The Galaxy J3 Pro was initially launched in China back in June last year. It is essentially an affordable smartphone from Samsung with entry-level specifications, and a plastic body. Samsung says that this smartphone has been ‘Made in India’ with focus on a few features like UDS, and S bike modes. UDS basically helps users save up to 50 percent mobile data costs, while the S bike mode uses NFC to help riders use the phone when on a bike.
“This is the first time Samsung is launching an online exclusive product, Galaxy J3 Pro, on Paytm Mall,” Sandeep Singh Arora, VP Online Business, Samsung India said. “Galaxy J3 Pro delivers powerful performance, outstanding display and also packs in consumer centric features developed at our R&D centers in India. This launch will give Paytm Mall consumers the opportunity to buy ‘Galaxy J Series’ which is the largest selling range in India.”
Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro specifications, features
As far as specifications are concerned, the Galaxy J3 Pro flaunts a 5-inch HD (720p) Super AMOLED display. Under the hood is a 1.5GHz Spreadtrum quad-core SoC paired with 2GB of RAM. There is 16GB internal storage on offer, which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.
For photography, the Galaxy J3 Pro comes with an 8-megapixel rear auto-focus camera with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Making sure everything ticks is a 2,600mAh battery. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and GPS. On the software front, the smartphone runs on a dated Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Though affordable, Samsung’s Galaxy J3 Pro does seem quite overpriced for what is on offer, especially when you take into consideration the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi 4A. Priced at Rs 5,999, the Redmi 4A is not only cheaper than the Galaxy J3 Pro, but also offers more to buyers. The Redmi 4A features a 5-inch HD (720p) IPS display, Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 425 quad-core chipset, and 2GB of RAM.
The smartphone also features 16GB internal storage, microSD card slot, 13-megapixel primary camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, a 3,120mAh battery, and it runs on Android Marshmallow-based MIUI 8. ALSO READ: Xiaomi Redmi 4A Review: The new king of affordable smartphones
